    Performance BESEN! BESEN! BESEN!
    sun 23.10 at 17h

"But a broomstick, perhaps you will say, is an emblem of a tree standing on its head; and pray what is a man but a topsy−turvy creature, his animal faculties perpetually mounted on his rational, his head where his heels should be, grovelling on the earth? And yet, with all his faults, he sets up to be a universal reformer and corrector of abuses, a remover of grievances, rakes into every slut’s corner of nature, bringing hidden corruptions to the light, and raises a mighty dust where there was none before, sharing deeply all the while in the very same pollutions he pretends to sweep away. His last days are spent in slavery to women, and generally the least deserving; till, worn to the stumps, like his brother besom, he is either kicked out of doors, or made use of to kindle flames for others to warm themselves by." (A Meditation Upon A Broomstick, Jonathan Swift)

Annea Lyvv Dreisz (anagram of Sylvia Van Deurzen), °1977, makes paintings, videos, performances, sounds and writes in between. All of these disciplines communicate with each other to the point that almost no work can exist without the other. She opened her own gallery space in 2020 which she called Het Orakel/The Oracle carrying a pancard
WAS IS OVER in which she meant the end of all corruption. In her performances Dreisz works with alter egos to explore the borders of identity and reality. Video’s are used as an installation, they make it possible to rearrange realities. What was once a white wall, becomes an abstract moving image. “Working with video’s gives me the opportunity to play with the concept time/space and thus gives the viewer a new sense of being, disorienting their believes of who they thought they were. I want to blur on the line that is drawn out to make the distinction between what is real and what is illusion. It’s about finding a new way of communication.”

The House of Art and Beauty is the one-off gathering of a large group of visual artists and choreographers. This is a strong commitment to more ‘radical beauty’ and collaboration within the arts. THOA&B wants to bring the energy, creativity and stamina of the artists together in one big movement in Duinstraat 124 in 2060 Antwerp, the former Imea building, now the home and studio of Katleen Vinck. It will be an intense 5-hour happening, a generous gesture to art in its most direct, radical, rough and pure form.

    "VRIJHEID VANDAAG"_____ Kunstenfestival Aardenburg___28.6.19-18.8.19

Kunstwerken nemen onze blinddoek weg.

How to Open an Art Gallery____ a performance by Annea Lyvv Dreisz___ AARS (AntwerpArtistRunSchool) master class

"How to Open an Art Gallery" is a project that started after I visited 'Troebel Neyntje' a Very Confusing Gallery with a Very Very Brilliant Owner. He made an artist book with Black and White photographs of Antwerpian Artists named "KUNSTENAARS IN ZWART WIT". One of the pictures I made of Guy Rombouts and Bedrich Eisenhoet was in it, so I got a copy and was overly joyed! While strolling along in this Confusing Galleryspace, I stumbled upon the ultimate and hilarious course "How to Open an Art Gallery" made by Sevenans himself, who recently founded AARS or Antwerp Artist Run School. This course was based on the (incredibly ugly) AP academic courses where he portrays himself opening the door of an Antwerp Art Gallery while meticulously explaining the actions involved with the opening of an Art Gallery. I told Sevenans how I went head by foot seeing that course on video and bought it immediately. It felt like an investment in a Fantastic and Controversial Hilarious Future! With this Course in my hand I felt more powerful than any leader on planet earth and I FELT now I could Change the World! I drove home with my AARS course, my heart Beatin like a Beatnik and my brain a Million Times in Overdrive. When I got home I immediately called Sevenans and told him I wanted to use the course and open a Gallery every month! He found that a very good idea and told me we should start as soon as possible. I got subscribed as the only student at AARS, got a real student card and a few weeks later we succesfully opened a first Art Gallery around the corner named (re)D. Gallery. Now, half a year later, we just finished opening a 5 th Art Gallery! And life is good...

”Opening an Art Gallery is the most fascinating thing to do! I feel like an explorer, representing our species, bringing back some new ideas in to this world. I feel like saving the Soul of mankind by opening Art Galleries. I see culture as an effort to literally realize our collective dreams.”

Last August I travelled to California and Arizona for the first time in my life and decided to record some music while traveling. Kindof like a diary of sounds and beats. It started with the song "I Missed my Flight No.1" and sadly enough it is based on true facts. (laughs) When I eventually arrived in Arizona I went to see a psychic and he told me I would be fine as long as I felt FREE and kept myself in a Constant State of Celebration in Harmony with the Universe!I thought he would tell me to get a job and start working!!! (laughs) So when I got back I wanted to perform like crazy and was very happy I could play at Forbidden City, most exciting place in town! Around this time, me and Mousy were doing an exhibition at aip (Artist is Present) and while painting I thought about the concert all the time.. To keep my spirits up I watched Andy Kaufmann cus he is so Brilliant!! I decided to let him do the introduction so he is telling the joke about the Cannonball which is totally absurd and directly points to the absurdity of war and the madness of the human mind that is ruling our society these days.... I'm very bad at telling jokes but I wanted people to laugh so Andy had to do it. Thank you Andy! (laughs)

“ for this exhibition we are largely inspired by ‘het Cruijffiaans’. Cruijff, being one of our heros when we were young.
Not that we were interested in football at all, but his use of language fascinated us.”
Cruijffiaans is the name given to the way of speaking, or a collection of sayings, made famous by a Dutch association football player and coach Johan Cruijff (1947–2016), particularly “one-liners that hover somewhere between the brilliant and the banal”.

(all humans walk, regardless of political stripe)
We must formulate a new declaration of the rights of man. This is a individual revolution. I wish to liberate man from the invisible oppressors of the imagination, the mind, the senses, desire. I call for freedom from closed rationalism, deadening functionalism, reigning moral laws and stultifying common sense. I call not for better working conditions but for no work at all. I do not walk in pragmatic solidarity but in imaginative solitude.

Observatorium art space is the platform for contemporary art of the new Meatpack site in Antwerp Dam. In a white industrial box of some 500m², exhibitions with changing thematic approaches will be presented. The topics are determined by a large group show at the center of the hall. This show will gather some 30 Belgian and international artists and is curated in collaboration with private and public collections, with galleries and with artists. Different zones are created around the central exhibition where artists present solo exhibitions. There is a display for art editions. A miniature cinema offers a changing program of video works, it's called Cinema North.
The thematic group shows provide an important basis for the whole Observatorium program. The first show here is called 'Club Conscious' and celebrates the centenary of the naive look within the artistic practice. Not that we can determine an exact year or the exact day for this birthday, but it was at the beginning of the last century, by Dadaism and later through Cobra and Pop Art a change of mentality was established. Previously art was mainly a serious, archaist and adult problem. In the 20th century a childish or adolescent gaze started to dominate, and even club culture became an influence. Until May 'Club Conscious' looks at how this determines the image or theme for many artists today.
In the periphery of this exhibition, young professional artists show solo exhibitions of recent work. Almost weekly there will be a vernissage in the corridors and halls of Observatorium.

Everyone knows the seductive combination of a white suit and a Crystal Chardonnay, embraced by beautiful saxophone music.
When we find ourselves in these golden moments we fall under a spell!
We at ABC Klubhuis are no exception and for the next exhibition we will make them magics come true, yet again…
For the first time, the two together: The Klubhuis and The Lounge.
At The ABC Lounge Klub you might find yourself sweeping the floors, reading on a divan, eating fruity naranjas or nibbing on a fried Omiley Marbles. Sit, lay down, eat, drink, listen, read or go hide beneath the floorboards and spy on others. Leave your coats and cloaks at the door, undress as you please, then step into the ABC chambers. ABC Lounge Klub will be yours to hang out in until the bells of Christmas toll.
    Opening: Friday 08.12.2017 @ 18.00u
Throughout the exhibition a range of events will take place. We advise you to follow the ABC Lounge Klub event closely so you dont miss a thing.

This show was curated by C U R A T O R, an artist himself. Here you can read his vision on the exhibition/experience.

'The best shows are artist runned so i build a show run by artists.
In fact I wanted to research that topic and see what it would be like to do the opposite and come up with a selection of researched artists and let them decide what work they would prefer to show w/o them knowing what works are already selected. The works are than given a certain freedom in the exhibition not only by chance but as a metaphore for life, to show a certain way of acceptence unknowingly by the artists as an archive for the future. Coincidence is a very important topic in this show bc I wanted to research how relevant it is to collect art from its time meaning that qualitative artworks would still exist today on the contrary of what mainstream thinkers today claim out of unawareness and the underestimation of the vastness of what art can mean and its panache it can carry build to reach all poeple. In our community i noticed you've got a v apparent way of percieving art out of a certain pretence almost of division between artist and 'the normal'. It certainly is my approach as C U R A T O R to percieve exhibitions out of a pretentiousless situation but at the same time v reflective towards our time.
In that aspect the goal to see the beautifull vastness of space is hypothisised in this exhibition.
Imagine a conversation taking place in space. It can be anything, it can be anywhere yet we are certain our generation has not partaken in such, physically. Our mental state is yet another issue where the boundaries are not yet set and current scientific statements are beeing debunked one after another. Debunking things is a good thing in science but only with hard proven factual material. Science is subjective but deffinitions arent and debunking deffinitions means evolution and evolving is a good thing. Human behaviour is different. You cant define human beahaviour you can only experience it and talk out of experience. Share thoughts and to exclude any vision is a malfunction of the denying factor within the discussion if its a yes or no situation posed by said factor. Does the person come out of its cocoon and accepts a different oppinion yet states a vision from the self? Then the discussion is on going and even wrong or right can play a factor in accepting eachothers view yet there is no wrong nor right when coming down to discussion. Yet there is oc, and everybody will be wrong or right even during a whole period in time and even that should be respected as such bc there will be nothing more educative than such periods. This exhibition is such conversation.
Every aspect in a open conversation is here and therefore the exhibition should be taken in as a whole conversation as visual creating ppl talking to eachother, oppinionated yet reaching each visitor individualy or in group. It is al equal. And thats the goal of evolution. Not just simply accepting eachother as they are but going into conversation, talking to eachother, communicating in a sense that is experience ridden and therefore valuable. We all think alike yet we experience diffirences. Respect that from eachother.
But this exhibition is far from a preach. life is open, think about it. Take a look at the exhibition. Commentt I will answer u when I can.'

The organisation of the 5th dimensional community is the natural result of the integration of these energies through the individuals that are staying here.'

This performance started with 3 video's I made in a swimming pool in the South of France. I call them Infinity Pool I,II,III named after the exact name the architects gave these specific kind of very sofisticated swimming pools that have a straight edge of water so you littelarly connect water and landscape. What fascinated me was the lightplay that occured when you jump in the water. There is a certain structure, form and movement that appears which is kindof hypnotizing. WATER MOVES IN LIGHT and through light and human interaction. Its the communication of WATER,LIGHT and PERSON. I could keep on watching it while it took me in a sort of trance. So then I filmed it and changed the speed so it becomes even more hypnotizing and in a way alienating. I kept the original sound of the water which transformed as well through the changing of the speed and this sounded perfect to me.
So that was the ultimate start of this performance. This pool of infinite possibilities(thats what it represents to me). I knew I wanted to connect it with human voice. As I have been exploring the possibilities of the human voice throughout my life I wanted to let go of everything I knew(which I'm also busy with my whole life as we get information constantly so constantly you have to check, is it real, or is it not? Is it true or is it false?. At home Guy gave me Tibetan singing bowls and I started to listen to them and they started to speak to me and made me clear my voice is an infinity pool of endless possibilities. So I started to experiment with this. I would sit inside the infinity pool and listen what would come up. I would record layer after layer of different sounds and this would become a sortof a soundscape. So this was the setting. I knew this would be the setting. I would project the 3 videos straight on the wallso it forms kindof an aquarium where peomple sit in.
So then I started to think about how people should experience this Infinity Pool. This is a very important part of the 'oelalila experiment' namely the questioning of HOW the viewer will experience the performance. So I started to think on what it is exactly that I want to do (which I'm also questioning my whole life already)? From the first of january 2017 I started to meditate and channel in my studio and would bring in this vibration of the 5th dimension which means the idea of paradise ( I do not mean utopia as utopia implies a visionary world that is NOT reality. This vision of paradise I'm talking about is VERY real) where everything is possible but only from a certain state of consciousness. In a way I see myself as someone who comes from the future and with this image of the future that is quite fascinating I came back over here to let you know that paradise is very real. So there are certain things NOT possible. These are universal laws and I am in total servance of these laws cus they appear to be very wise so I will not go in discussion with someone who is not as wise as the universe itself as they would understand how wise these laws are and would not want to discuss them but serve them and this would be inspiring to create even a higher way of being.oh, and I love paradoxes.
So actually I see my atelier as a personification of the creation of paradise. Of course it's an experiment so nothing is already decided or fixed. It unfolds day by day.(!!!) Every day I talk with the gods and they give me information on how to proceed.
So, then I realized I wanted to create a persona in the video installation. I found a peace of very colourfull glittery space fabric and put it over me so atually I was wearing a very glittering Burka which felt perfectly right to me as I feel like the liberation of this dark force that oppresses women all over the world. When I stand in front of the video projection there appear to be two shadow figures that are the personification of my shadow and while I personificate the female voice, it's the transformation of the female transformation of human perspective of the 21st century throough art.
So how will the viewer experience the performance?
I decided it would be one on one. Before the viewer comes in, they will wait in a waiting room where they are asked to think about a question that they want to see answered, they are also asked to forget everything they know so far. THen they come in and will be welcomed in the 5th dimension.
There was a rule I gave myself to make it very positive, very positive. As we are bombarded by very negative information that is not even necessarily true, I want to bring some opposite power, the idea of the possibility of liberation and freedom.
So the viewer gets a compliment 'you are so waw!' and that is to let the viewer remember in a sense who they really are. It's from an overall perspective on life where pure love is the ultimate basis of life. (which is quite shockingly different from the current situation.)I always liked art that was shocking and provocing. But I'lm now questioning myself so much on how much more shocks can the people experience? I think the whole world is in a state of shock so I every day for the last two years I tried to become more and more enlightened so I could bring that vibration into my art. So then the viewer gest a sound. This sound is created on the moment the viewer is there. It's a sort of metaphysical answer on the question they asked. And it is never the same. I see it as an act of transformation where the viewer gets disoriented in the images, the space and the sound, sometimes I speak but it is a language the viewer cannot understand. It is important everything is in a way non understandable. there are no 2 performances alike. After the performance the viewer goes outside and gets a paper which says 'you are now pure gold' which implies that the viewer has become gold referring to the alchemists who can turn objects into gold. So a very important aspect of this performance is transformation.
